A pair of gold ear pendants, KARNPHUL JHUMKA, suspended a dome shape pendant. The JHUMKAS are kundan set with diamonds in a floral pattern. Pearls are hung from the JHUMKAS. The word JHUMKA is of Persian origin, it passed through Punjabi to Hindi and other Indian languages, with local variations of spelling. The verb JHUMKANA means to cause to glisten, glitter or flash, but as well to sway, to dance, to jingle or to ‘shake-swing’.
