GOLD BANGLES

A pair of 23k gold bangles, kundan-set with natural diamonds in floral collets.

The outer surface is adorned with green enamel work, while the inner surface features intricate enamel decoration in the traditional Safed Chalwan style: a combination of red and green motifs set against a white enamel background, depicting poppies and foliage. This exquisite work is crafted using the traditional Champlevé technique.

Historical studies of Indian jewelry suggest that such bangles, as well as certain types of bracelets, anklets, and bazu bands, were traditionally worn in pairs. This practice is deeply connected to the Indian concept of cosmic order and balance, which emphasizes symmetry and harmony. Adornments on the right side of the body were mirrored on the left, with one bangle worn on each arm to maintain this balance.
